General Changslum was successful in preliminary engagements against the Nanking rebels, and now bars the road of advance Pekinwards. The Government troops were also successful at Kiangsi. Six Chinese warships at Shanghai have declared for the southerners.
The principal military at Wuhu have been assassinated, which indicates that the province of Anhui is joining the rebels.
The Kwangtnng Assembly has ch dared against Yuan-Shih-Kai.

Fukien has also gone over. Meanwhile southern politicians are quitting Pekin, and it is likely that Parliament will be adjourned. An official at Kinking refused a British merchant permission to send goods to foreigners, stating that there were no facilities for the British. The merchant subsequently obtained a pass on the American Consul’s influence.
