SENTENCED FOR THEFI

At the police court this morning, John Nolan, aged 27 years, admitted having committed twenty-eight thefts in the city from the shop fronts of various places, between May 2-i and July 14. The goods taker included tivo wringers, a large number of carpenters' and plumbers' tools, the total value being £25. Accused handed in a written statement in which he said he had stolen.the goods to buy medicine, and asked to be given reformative treatment rather than a term in gaol. Mr Eraser, S.M., stated that this sort of theft would have to be stopped, but accused was entitled to be sentenced to reformative treatment. He would be iiententvd to reformative treatment for a period not exceeding three years.
