Second Edition FOOTBALL.

TARANAKI A. AND B. TEAMS

Instead of the Manaia match, Nortl v. South, as suggested, tlie Union ha< arranged for taranaki A. and B teams to meet at Stratford on Thurs day, 7th August. This will give boti teams a good game before they g< on tour. The following are the date; of the matches for the tours :-i~

16th August, Taranaki A's meet Auck land A's at Auckland. 21st August, Taranaki B's play Auck

land B's at New Plymouth

20th August, A's play Manawatu at Palmerston. 23rd August, A's play Wellington, at Wellington. 27th August, A'vs play Wairarapa, at Carterton. 30th August, A's play New South Wales at New Plymouth. 4th September, A's play Auckland A's at New Plymouth.

The B's on tour play Wairoa subunion at Waverley and Horowhenua at Levin, but the dates are not definitely fixed; and arrangements are being made to get a match with the Rotorua Maoris.

The expense to the Union in sending two teams on tour will be heavy, of course, but the move is a good one, and should materially assist in keeping the Rugby flag flying well at the top. Players will note that inter-pro games will he available for about forty as the result of the decision, and will, no doubt, be duly grateful. At any rate, after this a lot of the talk that has been flying lcurtd as to scurvy treatment by the Union should melt into thin air. It is certain that the Union cannot be held responsible for the small number of teams in the senior fixtures and the consequent early closing of club football. They have done well in making the arrangements as stated above.
