A MOTHER’S SHOCKING ACT BEATING THE “HANGING” GAME [Per Press Association.] Auckland, June 27. A woman of about thirty years of age, named Mrs Hall, of Warkworth, apparently went out of her mind this afternoon, and killed her daughter Isabel Hall, aged ten years. Early in the afternoon Mrs Hall took her three chilrden, the girl Isabel, and two younger brothers, into the barn, and on the pretence of playing a game. She induced the three to stand on boxes, and put light rope® round their necks, which she tied to rafters. She then knocked the boxes away, leaving the children hanging. The girl Isabel was killed instantly, her neck being broken. The two other children were not materially hurt, and apparently the mother out tho ropes immediately. A neighbour who was summoned found the girl hanging, already dead, and went to procure assistance, when the mother cut the body down. Mrs Hall has been placed under arrest, charged with murder, and will be brought up at Auckland.
