Lord Roberts presided at the annual meeting of the National Service League of 163,746 members. Bishop Frodsham detailed the Australian military system, and said that tlie prosecutions under the Act were rather fewer than those under the Public Instructions Act. The majority of religious bodies in Australia favored the Act. Lord Roberts said that the lines of communication between Capetown and the front had been broken on several occasions because the men were improperly trained. It was most inhuman to send untrained men to be slaughtered.
