“BLACK COAL.”
NEW SOUTH WALES NEW SOUTH WALES MINERS. THE STRIKE SPREADING. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] Sydney, April 21. There is an uneasy feeling over the combined action and the possibility of the strike extending to the Waterside Workers’ and other unions. The Northern Miners’ Delegate Board resolved to expel the Minmi Lodge from the Miners’ Federation. The decision was the outcome of the Minmi miners entering into an agreement with the proprietors of the mine against the desire of the Federation, and means that Minmi coal is declared “black,” and will not | je handled by unionist coal lumpers. The delegates state that the expulsion of Minmi men requires the miners’ lodges’ endorsement before it is effective. It is unlikely that steps will bo taken to boycott Minmi coal until this is obtained. (Receive! S.Hj a.m. ) Sydney, April 22. It is understood that there will be a distribution of strike pay in connection with the southern coal miners. This week cases have been reported, where traders have stopped all credit, resulting in families having little 01 nothing to live on. Mr Carmichael to-morrow confers with representatives of northern and southern miners and coal lumpers.
