TARANAKI RUGBY UNION.

A meeting of the Management Committee was held in the Municipal Chambers last night, when there were present:—Messrs Jas. McLeod (Chairman), T. Buchanan, A. Lees, G. Glenn, H. J. Atkinson, J. Garcia , R. Masters (Treasurer), and P. Skoglund (Secretary). An apology was received for the absence of Mr de Launay. Air A. R. Ryder, of the New Plymouth High School, wrote entering; a third junior team in the competition, and intimating that the term holidays would be from May 6 to May 21 and asking that their byes should if possible' bo arranged for them. Air A. Gray also entered a third junior team comprised of players from the Technical School and College Cadets. It was also stated that Stratford High School would he entering a third junior.

The following re-instatements were effected:—Hawera:. Geo. Leydoii and R. Julian, senior to first junior. Okaiawa: Paddy and Nolio Robinson, senior to first junior; and R. Penny, first to second junior. The chairman, secretary, and Air Glenn were appointed an executive committee. The usual interchange of visits will take place between Wanganui and Taranaki. Taranaki will visit AVanganui on June 3rd, and a return match will bo played at Hawera during the Hawera AA’inter Show week.

The Wanganui Union notified that they had agreed to the formation of a sub-union by the Waverley Club, and had no objection to players from South Taranaki taking part in the competition. They were also quite willing that players north of the Patca river should play for the Taranaki reps, only. It was pointed out that Taranaki desired that all players in the Taranaki Provincial District should be eligible as Taranaki representatives, and that this included Whenuakura beyond the Pa tea river. It was resolved that the fixtures commence on Thursday, May Bth, and Saturday, May 10th. It was also decided to invite Wellington to play a friendly match at Hawera during Winter Show week, offering to pay their expenses, as was the case last year. The selectors were appointed as follows: Representative teams —Messrs. Mynott (north), E. Burko (south), with another to bo appointed. A match will bo played during Show week at New Plymouth between teams selected from the Saturday and Thursday players in tho Northern end. A letter was received from Mr Hatton, secretary of the Whangamomona Club ro the format-ion of a su]b-union out East,, which would embrace Tah,ora, Whangamottiona, Te. Wera, Strathmore arid Pufafigi. Members-were of opinion that Inglewood should endeavour to enter a senior team, and, if not a Thursday

senior, that they should ’enter in the Saturday competition. The Saturday competition was drawn on the basis that Inglewood can raise a team equal to the standard of the present Saturday teams.

The secretary was instructed to communicate with the Railway Department with a view to having the 4.20 p.m. train from New Plymouth for south delayed on Thursdays. The question of school football was under discussion, and it was resolved to form a Northern District, consisting of Inglewood, Waitara, and New Plymouth, and that Messrs A. Gray and Bary bo appointed to organise the competition : —Central District from Tariki to Eltham, Southern Hawera and surroundings, and the West ern which is already in operation. Play-offs will be arranged between the winners in each division, and the winning team will be presented with caps by the Rugby Union.
