THE PEA RIFLE FATALITY.

SHEEHAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. [Per Press Association.] Whangarei, April 17. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day, E. A. Sheehan, a boy of 14 years, was charged, on remand, before Mr Frazer, S.M., with the murder of Thos. Fyfe, aged 14 years. The evidence was to the effect that on April 6, accused fired a pea rifle at Fyfe and the bullet went into the boy’s side, travelling 12 inches in the body. Fyfe had previously thrown a piece of manure at Sheehan. Fyfe died as a result of the bullet wound on Bth of April. Sheehan was committed for trial. Bail was allowed in two sureties of £2OO each, conditional on the boy reporting to the police twice daily.
