\ CAUGHT IN A CULVERT. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.! London, April 16. A man named Amos had a dispute with Woodirons, owner of an inn, regarding stocktaking. Woodiroiis called in the police, and Amos shot the constable. After a tussle, he re-entered the house. Mrs Grice was head at an upstairs window crying, “Save me!” Sergeant Barton attempted to help her, but was killed. The, woman was found dead in a cellar.
Meanwhile Amos kept a crowd of two hundred at bay, threatening to shoot at them. He escaped at the back of the house. After three hours’ search he was discovered in a culvert. He, surrendered when a civilian fired down the drain, slightly wounding Amos in the face.
