AMUSEMENTS.
HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. “A Pueblo Legend” is the star picture in to-night’s programme, and the New Mexican drama should prove exceedingly interesting. With such lilms tlio usual complaint is that the “make-up” is too obvious, but in tins case special care has been taken, and, with the help of the Museum of Indian Antiques at Albuquerque, the costumes, shields, weapons, etc., will be similar Jo those worn by the Mexicans before the Spanish conquest of Mexico. “When Father had His Way” is a delightful American humorous study. Billy Ware and Kitty Hevoe are engaged and Sub-rosa and Papa Devon knows nothing of the match. One day Billy, on his way to meet Kitty in the park, stumbles upon an old gent and treads on his favourite corn. It is Kitty’s father, and he resents it rather vigorously. That same evening Kitty agrees that she and Billy shall go to papa and ask his consent to a marriage. The old gent, recognises the boy, who made him suffer, and promptly opposes the match. Billy’s sister suggests a scheme and acting upon it Kitty tolls her father that he (Billy) has jilted her, she pretends to be heartbroken and refuses to eat, the old man hunts up Billy and with a gun in hand demands that he shall make good. Billy is marched to a jewellery store and forced to buy a ring, then to a clergyman, and the ceremony is performed during which the artful couple display much resentment. The ceremony’ being complete they’ rush into each other’s arms and give papa the laugh.
