TARANAKI GOLF TOURNAMENT
Tho final for the Taranaki amateur championship was played on iuesday afternoon on the New Plymouth Club s links, when B. L. Taylor (.Miramar) beat i). Prytle (Feilding), 3 up ancl2 to play. A bogey handicap, 18 holes, placed in the morning was won by F. S. Parkes (Wanganui), hep. 9, 4 down, and A. Bewlcy, hep. 4, 4 down, with G. Morpeth, hep. 0, 5 down sending in the next best card. In the bogey foursomes, plriyed simultaneously tytli the championship, the best score returned was: —K. Wardroy and W. Ralph, 2 down. In the Saturday putting competitions, J. Power was second to W. B. (Glasgow; on Monday, K. Wardrop was first, with A. H. Lewis second, and on Tuesday, J. H. Cochrane secured first place with A. H. Glasgow second. At the conclusion of the play, the president (Mr C. H. Burgess) thanked the visitors for the kindly way they had treated the club, which was keenly disappointed that the course was not in the order it might have been. New links could not be got ready in a year even with plenty of money, and this they had not had. In reply, Mr B. L. Taylor, on behalf of the visitors, expressed gratitude for the way in which they had been looked after, and paid a tribute to the capable manner in which the secretary (Mr .1. Patou) had carried out his duties.
