COMMONWEALTH’S WARM MESSAGE OF GREETING. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Press Association.) Melbourne, March 27. Numerous messages have been exchanged between the cruiser New Zealand and the wireless station at Williamstown Naval Deport. Lord Denman (Governor-General of the Commonwealth) received a message and replied in terms of welcome. Mr Fisher (Premier) sent the following message to Commander Halsey :
“Welcome to Australia. We must live together, and I believe we should work together for pence and happiness, and to that end, if necessary, we will fight together.” Commander Halsey replied: “Many thanks for cordial welcome.” A i-equest was received on behalf of Prince George of Battenburg, that a message conveying his sympathy should be despatched to Athens to his sister Princess Alice, eldest daughter of Prince Louis of Battenberg, who, in 1903, married Prince Andrew, son of the late King of Greece.
INITIAL DRAFT OF PROGRAMME. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, March 27. The Government has approved of the proposal for the New Zealand to remain at Wellington from 12th April to 22nd April, leaving that day for Auckland, and touching at Napier and Gisborne, arriving at Auckland on the 29th April, and remaining till 11th May. These proposals require Commander Halsey’s consent. The further itenerary will ■be settled after the arrival of the battleship.
