The passengers on the Chicago-Bur-lington-Quinck train saw the tornado strike the Omaha buildings and whirl them bodily into the air, bodies falling thereout. When the train stopped, the passengers who ran to assist the injured, were overwhelmed. At Ralston there are dozens of dead and dying, the latter asking to be put out of their misery. Whole acres are covered with wreckage. A railway box-car was carried in mid-air for a quarter of a mile. The train proceeded with the dead and injured, and entered Bcnsor, where scenes \vere a repetition of those at Ralston.

When South Omaha was hit, -the scenes baffled description. Fire also overtook the town, and the dames were visible for miles. The people rushed panic-stricken in to the streets. The police were unable to oooe w’th the disorder. Special trains brought assistance. The tornado cut a swathe twentyfour blocks long and three wide through the wealthiest part of the city. Twelve hundred houses were wrecked. The damage is estimated at tlnee million sterling. A hundred ooriies have been recovered. Milwaukee also suffered, a rainstorm flooding the city. Other smaller centres were similarly damaged. THE DEATH ROLL—IS2. DOCTOR’S MIRACULOUS ESCAPE. (Received 8.0 a.m.) The death roll is stated definitely to be 152, while eighteen were killed at Terrahaute.

A downpour of rain 1 extinguished the fires and saved the city from destruction.

A doctor while asleep in his office was carried out by the force of the wind and deposited upoji a mattress in the middle of the sheet unhurt. The building was wrecked.

A tornado struck Makarda, in Illinois. Eight persons were killed and many houses razed to the ground.
