HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. “A Sister’s Ordeal” is the big 3000 feet star for Thursday’s change. It is a thrilling Western drama, containing all the elements that fascinate—sidelights of life in the Wild West, the discovery of gold, and the consequent rush. A graphic scene of prairie life opens the story of how Peter, the cowboy, wins the heart of one of the daughters of a miner. The girl’s father, hearing of a gold rush, decides to leave for the spot to work a claim. While he is away he requires more money, so Peter is commissioned to carry the money to him. Whilst on his way Peter is “held up” by Sam, who has a grievance against him. Sam and his gang, after robbing Peter of his money, lower him down in an old well. Fortunately the daughters'of the miner have witnessed the affair and they quickly release Peter from his awkward position. One of the girls follows Sam, and after an exciting ride secures the money. She makes .good her escape, hut is pursued by Sam, who captures her. Binding her hand and foot, he (aided by other members of the gang) lowers the unfortunate girl into a lion’s pit and leaves her to her fate.. Peter and the other , girl effect a truly remarkable rescue from the lions. And the story, after many exciting happenings, ends in a manner satisfactory to all. In “Broncho Billy as Sheriff,” Mr G. M. Anderson appears in one of his great characterisation, famous throughout the world. The grim savagery of the Western feudal grudge and the' bitter agony of repentance are embodied in one of the most powerful productions of this renowned series. “The Palace of Mystery” is -a mew,. variety of picture, and tells how Mephisto, the jester, made Hink Grumble mend his ways.
