The polling took place to-day in connection with the Napier Harbour Board’s proposal td borrow £BO,OOO for the purpose of the reclamation of about 2090 acres of the Harbour Board Reserve. Yesterday an important event in the development of the Hawke’s Bay fruit industry occurred, when the first of a series of shipments of apples for South America was railed from the Hawke’s Bay Fruitgrowers’ Co. Ltd., of H;votings. Last year the company made an experimental shipment, but this year arc forwarding regular eoneiguments from npw until the end of June. The fruit is of a particularly high quality, being composed of Jonathans and Rennette du Canada. The fruit leaves Wellington by the s.s. Remuera on March 6th, and the next shipment will follow in fourteen,days’ time. THE TURAKINA’S CARGO. Auckland, March 6. The Turakina’e cargo includes, 21,737 boxes of butter and 400 crates of cheese from Auckland, estimated to he valued f.o.h. at Auckland about £70,000.
