DIVORCE COURT.
Evidence was given in Auckland on Monday afternoon before his Honor Mr Justice Edwards, at the Supreme Court, in the divorce case, Albert Edward Julian v. Sarah Julian and Frederick McGregor, co-respondent, in which a decree was claimed on the ground of misconduct. Mr Hackett appeared for the petitioner, who described himself as a barman. While the petitioner was away at Inglewood, whither his wife, who .was in Auckland, refused to accompany him, she took up with the co-respondent. Julian said that when he met his wife some time after she left him she admitted that a child had been born. Witness said he never neglected his wife in any way.
Wm. McGregor, millhand, living at Kingsland, said his brother (the corespondent) and the respondent had lived as man and wife at Turua. The woman was introduced by McGregor as “Mrs McGregor.” From something witness heard two days after they arrived at Turua he went down and advised her to get out, telling her that “Mrs ■ Julian” would suit her better as a name; than ■ “Mrs McGregor.” She did not deny it. Witness afterwards saw his brother in Auckland and the brother then said he intended to stick to the woman “for the child’s sake.” The case was not defended. His Honor granted a decree nisi.
