J. D. WILLIAMS AMUSEMENT COMPANt. (Received 9.25 a.m.) Sydney, February 1.

The directors of the J. D. Williamson Amusement Company carried a motion dispensing with the services of Mr. J. D. Williams, managing director, from to-day, and the duties will be assumed by Mr. W. B. Miller. In a published statement Mr. Williams contends that the directors hdve no power to dispense with his services, and that that can only be done by a two-thirds vote at a general meeting of shareholders. In July last one of the directors suggested to him that a Royal Commission should enquire into the affairs of the company. Mr. Williams agreed that this was the best course. Another director, however, said that it was foolish. A few days later the directors declared a dividend of Is 6d per share, despite his opposition. Mr. Williams says the dividend helped the course of the present stock exchange panic, because it swallowed up the company’s ready cash.
