THE HOME RULE BILL.
NO CIVIL WAR.
(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.! (United Press Association.)
London, January 20
Air. Trevelyan, speaking at Chester, said that no Tory bluster and no mob brutality would deter the Government. It was quite likely that there would be rioting in Belfast, owing to the deliberate encouragement of violence by men in high places, but nobody expected the pitiful passions that Sir E. Carson was trying to arouse to lead to civil war. If they did, what could a handful of civilians do against the British Army?
THE NATIONALISTS WATCHFUL,
THE WOMEN’S ATTITUDE
Air. Redmond is urging the Nationalists to continue in full attendance in the House of Commons.
The suffragettes and the Women’s Liberal Federation threaten, in the event of rejection of the suffrage amendments, to abstain from further work for the Party.
