Auckland, the visitors in their second innings had lost one wicket for 265 at luncheon. Scores:— Rose, l> Taylor, 16; McMillan, not out, 138; O’Neill, not out, 105. . ■ .' ■ i ■ /.. “MAN OVERBOARD.” LOST FROM A TIMBER BARQUE. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, January 11. The barque Kolsohead arrived last night from Portland, Oregon, with a million and a half feet of lumber for the Stewart Timber Company, Wellington. The vessel, made a good passage of 45 days. When a month out, an A.B. named J. Walker stepped off the rail when the vessel was going ten knots, and was drowned. The barque immediately hove-to, and every effort was made to save the man, hut without avail. A light breeze was blowing at the time.
