As a result of the defeat of the French athletes at the Olympic games, an organisation under the presidency of the Marquis Poligrac is collecting funds to (establish schools of physical culture and athletic colleges. SWIMMING. NEW SOUTH WALES CHAMPIONSHIPS. Sydney, January 9. In the opening heats of the New South Wales 100yds swimming championship Barry defeated A. Wickham by a foot in 58 3-ssec, and Longworth defeated T. Wickham by a foot in 50 sec.
