LAW-ABIDING CITIES.
CHRISTCHURCH AND DUNEDIN. (Per Press Association.) Oliristchurch, January 7. Wellington is regarded as the most orderly of the four centres in New Zealand, according to a message from the capital city, hut when a “Press” reporter interviewed a prorrtinent member of the Christchurch Police Force the officer stated that - Christchurch and Dunedin were the two most lawabiding and orderly cities in the Dominion. “As one who has served in the four centres of New Zealand I have absolutely no hesitation in sayingrtbai Christchurch and Dunedin are the quietest cities in the Dominion,” said the officer interviewed.' “I think Christchurch compares very favourably indeed with the other centres.” 1 “Do you think Wellington’s claim of l being the most orderly city in the Dominion is justified?” asked tine press man. “No, I don’t,” quickly came the reply. “I do not think Wellington is by any means as orderly a city as Christchurch. Of course, this cannot b© expected, because Wellington is the principal shipping centres of New Zealand. Christchurch, being separated from the port, is not disturbed by troublesome seafaring folk. The men from the ships stay in Lyttelton, and very few cause trouble in Christchurch. It is quite plain,” concluded the officer, “that Christchurch is a quieter city than either Auckland or Wellington.”
