The delegates privately submitted their final conditions —namely:—The western frontier following the Mantua to Tundja, giving in Kirk Kilisse, where the villages are Christian, and retaining Adrianople, where Turkey is prepared to demolish the fortifications. A member of the Cabinet stated that if the Powers supported the Allies Turkey would still be unable to yield Adrianople and the Aegean Islands Turkey would surrender six villayets, but it was sheer territorial gluttony to ask for a seventh. RUSSIA AND AUSTRIA. Vienna, January 5. It is unofficially stated that the “conversations” between Russia and Austria are reassuring, though Austria stated that she was unable to demobilise in view of a possible renewal of hostilities and her anxiety regarding the Austro-Hungarian Slavs. The Minister of War states that the military and naval preparations will cost eight millions sterling. « , THE FATE OF SCUTARI. Austria and Italy differ regarding Scutari. Italy wishes it to become Montenegrin. DISCONTENTED OFFICERS. Constantinople, January 5. The officers’ agitation is directed chiefly against Nazim Pasha, who recently returned to Chataldja, the more effectively to check officers from interfering in politics. A delegation of 150 officers has come to Constantinople to demand that Izzet Pasha should be made Minister of War. THE ALLIES HOPEFUL. (Received 10.20 a.m.) London, January 6. After examining the latest proposals, in which Turkey still insists on retention of Adrianople, the Allies suspended the Conference without definitely breaking off negotiations, in the hope that the Turks will re-consider their attitude.
