ROTHSCHILD INJUNCTION.

The richest-Jewish maid in Europe, J\l iss Clarice Scbag Monteliore, lias captured the richest Jewish bachelor, Huron Alphonse Mayer von Rotiiscliilcl, and they will soon he married at the London home of the bride-to-be. ( While the wedding will unite the world’s two richest Jewish lamilies, it. will be in defiance of the dying injunction placed upon the male membens of the Rothschild family by its founder, Moyer Ainschel Rothschild, who more than a. century ago called his live sons to his beds.de and admonished them to be loyal to the fait); of Moses, to remain united to the end, and to intcr-marry. “Observe those things,” he said, “and yon will.be rich among the richest, and the world will he yours.” The few millions the first Haron Rothschild left have grown into hundreds of mdlions, probably the total family fortune exceeding £4.00,000,000, bringing in an annual income of not less than £25,000,000. Kings and nations have come and gone; empires have become bankrupt; and mighty men have returned to the dust; but every second of every day saw the Rothschild fortune grow. In Austria, Belgium, (lermany, France and England members of the family

spread out; everywhere they were, and are still, the pawnbrokers to rulers and nations. And they lived up to the command to inter-marry. .None of that gold ever flowed away. Baron Janies, for years the head of the French branch, married his neicc. Baron Lionel of England married his cousin, and so it went on. When there wasn’t a Rothschild girl for a Rothschild man to marry he remained .single until there was. When the supply of girls exceeded the boys the girls married out of the family. Last year Baron Oskar fell in love with a beautiful American, Miss Olga Menu, and committed suicide because his family refused to sanction a marriage with a non-Rothschild. .Miss Menu is in a sanatorium, a mental and physical wreck. Baron Alphonse is tin* great-great-grandson of the first Rothschild. He wooed and won Miss Montefiore, and will be the first to break the intermarrying command. His bride-to-be is the granddaughter of tho late Sir Moses Montefiore, whoj made a great fortune and was knight-] ed liy Queen Victoria.
