The rebels aro guilty of many excesses. The American troops will likely be retained indefinitely on the frontier.
r four negroes lynclied. New York, November 30. Tbr~3 negroes attacked the deputaysheriff at Shreveport, Louisiana, beat him unconscious and escaped to the woods. They were recaptured, and while being taken to gaol the mob overpowered the guards and hanged the negroes on the trees in a neighbouring swamp. \ . A' negro at Cordell, Georgia, shot two white women, but not fatally. He assaulted one, and was arrested. Ho was about to be tried, when a mob assembled at the courthouse, overpowered the guards, dragged the negro scream : ng outside, and hanged him to a tree.
