AGRICULTURAL COLLEGES.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, November 20. A large ami representative deputation from tjie Farmers’ Union and various local bodies interviewed Mr. Massey and asked that the proposed Agricultural Uollego be located m tue Auckland province. The speakers enlarged upon tiia need lor scientific metnods of treatment of the various soils in this part of the Dominion.
The Premier said the Dominion was muon behind other countries, notably Australia and Canada, in agricultural education, Since the .Government bad advanced the proposal of an Agricultural College, financial considerations had prevented them furtnering tue project, hut it was expected chose would gradually disappear and the scheme would bo gone on with. The college must bo close to one of the main lines of railway, easy of access, and must have not less than 759 acres of land. The Government would select the best site in the North Island, and in this connection would consult agricultural experts.
