A SENSATIONAL COLLISION.
A TRAIN AND A MOTOR. (Per Press Association.) Hamilton, October 28. A sensational accident occurred at a level crossing at Clandelands tin’s morning, when a covered motor car met a passing train from Cambridge, and a collision occurred, the motor being carried in front 'of the train and thrown on to the cattle stops. It was completely smashed, and the occupants—Mr. 1). L. Smith (builder) and bis son Charles—were thrown nut. Mr Smith, sen., who was driving, was badly injured about the head and severely shaken. His son bad a leg badly injured and it is feared amputation will bo necessary. Details are vague, owing to the injuries of the driver, but it is stated
the train whistled, hut the signal was not regarded. The crossing is recognised as very dangerous, and recently an agitation was made to provide a subway, which is most necessary, owing to tho dangerous nature of the position. The Smiths arc well known an cl respected residents of Hamilton. The accident has caused grave unrest, as, owing to tho expansion of ClaudeJnmls, which has just been included in tho borough, Hamilton traffic must increase in the near future.
