There was a-good deal of excitement in Upper Willis- street yesterday afternoon. Alarming noises were.heard issuing from a private residence,, and a crowd soon collected. ,< A ; woman's cries, groans, and-shouts for help were heard, and then the woman- was seen near a front window with her, face streaming with blood. She then appeared to fall, and on the police gaining admittance, she was discovered, on the floor. As, however, the woman refused to give any explanation, no action could be taken. , 'intent to procure. Wellington, September 28. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, William Knox was remanded till Monday on four charges of using an instrument with intent to procure abortion. The first three informations are in respect.to a. girl of the age of seventeen years, anc[ it is alleged that the offences took place on August 14th, August 16th, and August 18th, 1911. Regarding the fourth charge, the allegation is that on. or about June 15th, 1912, at Wellington, Knox used an instrument with intent to procure a miscarriage on a girl aged eighteen years. Accused is a married man.

New Zealand Times, in which the jury was unable to agree, is issuing an amended statement of claim for £3OOO damages.
