THE COAL STRIKE. London, September 21. Lord St. Aldwyn has settled the out-standing disputes in South Wale? and Monmouthshire in favour of the men. The piece-workers' contentions were upheld, and a minimum of 4s 7d granted in all eases.
Lord St. Aldwyn has decided that 4s 7d should bo continued when other work is given to those unable to earn these wages at piecework.
ENGINEERS' STRIKE AT MANCHESTER.
London, September 22
Five thousand apprentices and engineers in the shops at Manchester and Salford have struck for an extra shilling a week.
GAS WORKERS' COMPLAINT
(Received 9.5 a.m.) London, September 2-
The Gasworks Union compl.vrx-l a flout the wages paid at Isnuir.tr Mends works in Cheshire. Sir John Brunncr, replying, denounced the attacks, stating that tlnf workmen receive a week's holiday yearly, free doctors, and pensions in old age, and he asks if his workmen wish to relinquish these benefits for a shilling weekly rise to 235.
