TARANAKI MAORIS v. WANGANUI (United Press Association.) Wanganui, September 5. A Rugby match between tlio touring Taranaki Maoris and a Wanganui combination was played to-day and ended in a draw, each side scoring six points. N. Z. RUGBY UNION. • Wellington, September 4. The Management Committee of the Now Zealand Rugby Union met tonight. The Marlborough Union sent a communication that the Northern League agent was in Blenheim endeavouring to arrange a practice game. It asked for authoritative information that players taking part could he disqualified.
The Marlborough Union, it was stated, could he relied on for a very firm stand. The secretary notified that he had replied, “Players taking part in Northern League practice games are liable to expulsion.” His action was confirmed. New South Wales Union wrote relative to the adjustment of accounts in connection with tours of American Universities and New Zealand teams in 1910. They staled that as the Australian team, which was to visit (America, would ho in Wellington on September 112th, and 13th, the N.S.W . Council 'had delegated Dr. Otto Rohrs-
inarm, manager of the team, and secretary of the union, power to confer with representatives oi the New Zealand Union, with a view to a settlement of the matter. The N.S.W. Union had given its delegate lull power to settle the whole matter, and it was suggested that the representatives oi the New Zealand Union carry the same power so that matters could he finally adjusted. The New Zealand union was requested to arrange for the N.S.W. players to have the use of a ground.for training purposes, while in Wellington. The secretary stated that .arrangements for ground were being made. In regard to the matter of the conference with N.S.W. delegates, a sub-committee was set np, with power to act. The entertainment of the j team while in Wellington was left to 1 a suh-eommittee. j A rather unusual point cropped up. in an appeal received concerning the i<fusal of the Motnoka sub-union to permit i;v certain match to he re-played. A player in the match was ordered oil i the field and in due course came before I the .Motnoka sub-union. He was exoneri a ted and his Huh then contended that i his absence as a result of being oidoied j off affected the result of the game, I which, they desired, should he re-play-cd. This the sub-union refused to do.' Any appeal to the Nelson I nion on the matter was ruled out of order. An appeal was the re fore forwarded to the New Zealand 1 nion. • Aftei a lengthy discussion it was decided to inform the Nelson Union that they must give a decision on the matter.
