THE TITANIC DISASTER.
CAUSTIC COMMENT. (Received 30, 10.30 a.m.) London, May 29. Several London newspapers protest against Senator Smith’s speech in connection with the Titanic inquiry as being flamboyant journalism and rhetorical flapdoodle. They admit that the report itself is dignified and balanced. The attack on the Board of Trade requires attention from the House of Commons. Ncav York, May 29. The Globe heads its comments on Senator Smith’s speech “Oh Avhat an ass!” and declares that the report is farcical as <v summary of the evidence. Others call attention to Senator Smith’s recommendation that buoys should Ik3 carried by every ship to mark the place of burial. The newspapers ask how buoys could bo anchored in mid-ocean.
