(Per Preps Association.) Auckland, May 20. The long series of burglaries which have gone on uninterruptedly for tin past two months was added to on Friday night or early on Saturday morning, when the safe of the TaupoTotara Company's office, at Newmarket was neatly burgled, and about £IC in cash stolen. No arrests have ar yet resulted. Waihi, May 26. A two-storied boarding-house ii Upper Main street, occupied by Mr: McWilliams, and owned by J. Donaldson, was completely destroyed by fire. The outbreak occurred at two o'clock" The occupants lost practically all theii belongings. The promptness of th< brigade prevented the lire spreading to adjoining buildings. One boarder who bad placed a leather wallet containing £2OO in notes under his mattress, recovered the money from among the debris. The furniture was insured for £2OO in the Norwich Unior office. The insurance on the building is not ascertainable. The fire origi nated in an ash-box in the back yard Wanganni, May 20.
A fire broke out this morning ii: the premises of Hodson Bros., grocerfi Dublin street, and a shop and onestorey building were completely gutted. Hodson Bros., who live on tin premises, just escaped in time witl but a few belongings. The shop, helonging to F. J. Johns, was insurer 1 in the Guardian Office for £220, while the stock, cash register, scales ant fixings brought Hodson's insurance ur to £3ls', hut this does not nearly cover their lons.
