The Russian Famine Committee is appealing for funds to relieve twenty million starving people. Official reports state that the Paraguayan rebels’ artillery, a thousand rifles and five hundred prisoners were captured. Many of the leaders wore killed and cx-Prcsidont Jara was wounded. The Government has increased the price of -opium 15 per cent (being an increase of over 50 per cent in 29 months) for the, purpose of reducing the consumption.
