(Per Press Association.) Auckland, May 12. A shop in the Great North Road, owned by George W. Read, cabinetmaker, etc., was gutted by fire and the stock destroyed. The building and stock were insured in the South British' Office for £SOO. Gisborne, May 12. A man named Thornhill Nicholas was driving a. chaffcutter at Manutuke on Friday night ,when the horse shied, and Nicholas in some manner got under the machine. He was brought to the Gisborne Hospital, where hi' died early this morning. Wanganui, May 12. A married man named Walter Haycock, residing at Wanganui East, was killed while bushfelling at Waiweni, near Taumarunui, on Saturday.
