Christchurch, May G. The Now Zealand Boxing Council re-elected Sir Joseph Ware! patron, and Mr. W. A tack secretary. The bal-ance-sheet showed a credit of £lOl. The Council had a long discussion on a question raised by the Hawke’s Bay and Grey mouth associations. The latter, with the Council’s sanction, arranged a match between Mitchell and Ireland on May 18th for the heavyweight championship. Subsequently the Council was informed that the Hawke’s Bay Association- had matched Mitchell and Ireland for April 20th. At the Council’s request Grcymouth gave way. It has now been decided to call on Mitchell for an explanation and also submit a fid! statement of too case to allilia ted bodies, with a request that they should strictly respect one another’s engagements. The Now Zealand championships were allotted to Wellington.
