The Olympic was on the point nl sailing when a number of firemen burled their kits on to the quay by scores, and then surged for the gangway, demanding wooden lifeboats instead of collapsibles. The officers offered to demonstrate the seaworthiness of the collapsibles, but 295 left .the ship. Pickets were nested on the dock and at the White Star Office. The Olympic has not sailed, and she is still without a complement of firemen. The sailors state that they are determined not to sail without union firemen.
