AMUSEMENTS.
HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. There was a splendid audience at His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday evening for the celebration of the theatre’s anniversary, and the opening of the now dress circle. On all sides complimentary references have been made on the new addition to the 'building, the consensus of opinion being that the view obtained is an excellent one, and well worth the extra money charged. The various films were all well received, notably “Saved by the Pony Express,” which aroused more enthusiasm than even the “star” drama, which In its way is a remarkably good picture, conspicuous for the excellence of its production. That very fine film showing the snow effects of re A-winter in Finland was also applauded vigorously. Mi Percy Childs received the picture presented by the managemnt to the person collecting the largest number of coupons. The number collected was well on three hundred.
To-night “Tho Two Orphans” will be screened, and there should he a large attendance as tho film has been well spo'ten of elsewhere. Other films in this programme are “A Newsboy Hero,” “Rambles Through Ceylon,” and “Tilly and the Fire Engine.” On Fiiday evening tho Fire Brigade benefit will eventuate. Tho management have secured several fine pictures showing tho brigades of larges centres in action, it is sincerely hoped that Stratford people will appreciate the services of tho local brigade, and the generosity of Madame Bernard by purcl't sing tickets. It would be hard to siagle out a more deserving cause.
