(Per Press Association.) Whangarei, February 24. A fire shortly after midnight gutted a large single-storey wooden building occupied by Heath Morrison, dinner, and owned by Mr. Caplen. The whole of tho stock was ruined. The insurances aggregate £22U(J m various offices. An incipient lire in the Farmers’ Union Auction Bazaar had been suppressed a few minutes earlier, in that case there were certain evidences of attempted arson. Material saturated in inflammable liquid was discovered ablaze against the rostrum. Joseph Hide, labourer, about 60, married, committed suicide yesterday afternoon at Grahamtown. He was found by his son hanging dead from a strap which was fastened to a peg in tho wall.
