ELECTRIC LIGHT LOAN.

THE MEETING ADJOURNED. The meeting convened by the Mayor to discuss the electric light question last night proved of insufficient interest to the public to counterbalance the dampening effects of the weather. The majority of the Councillors, seven ladies, and a few of the business men of the city attended. Mr. J. McAllister, who took the chair, said that after all the trouble Mr. Masters had gone to, ho (Mr. Masters) would prefer to have the address put off—say till Friday night —and if that met with the approval of the audience the meeting would be accord! ugly ad j ourne d. On the voices it wafe decided to postpone the meeting. Mr. Masters, in thanking them for their decision, and their attendance there that evening, said that since the meeting was one of the most important that had ever been held in Stratford, he would therefore have liked to have a good number of ratepayers there, “fit is not my wish to force tin's sort of thing on the ratepayers, but I would like tho ratepayers to be here to listen to what *1 have to say and then they can decide for themselves. l I think * the subject warrants a bigger audience, and it is very, very hard to speak to empty benches.
