VIEW OF STRATFORD FROM 'i i, K RAILWAY PLATFORM.
The view of Stratford that is obtained from the railway platform is often remarked upon by vis.tors to our town. To say the least of it, it is not a pleasing one. It creates an entirely false impression of Stratford, but unfortunately it is the one that hundreds of people passing through on th-ir way to other towns > gather in their live minutes’ stay. Yesterday the Chamber of Commerce approached Mr. J. Armstrong, the District Railway Traffic Manager, to ascertain if an interview could he obtained with Mr. T. Ronayno, the General Manager of Railways, who is at present in Stratford on official business.
This was accomplished, and at 7.3( last night, a deputation from thaf body, cons’sting of Messrs. R. Masters, W. P. Kirkwood, W. H. H. Young, and J. B. Richards (secretary) laid their case before Mr. Ronayne. They suggested that a fence along the platform might meet the case. MV- Ronayno stated that lie hac taken notice "of the view from the platform, and admitted that it was not al that could bo desired. He would givf the matter further consideration, and endeavour to improve it. After thanking Mr. Rnnayne lor hn courtesy in the matter, the deputatioi withdrew.
