WHEAT AIIYANCING. Sydney, January 8. Wheat is strong and advancing. Sales were effected at ds Bd, and it is reported that seine went as high as 3s 9d. WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. Wellington, January 8. The Wellington wool sales this week will be attended by six buyers from France. This constitutes a record. In 1900, live French buyers were represented, but in the succeeding years the number fell away to three. The six representatives of French houses will attend all the New Zealand wool sales. MINING SHARES. (Received 9, 10.50 a.m.) London, January 8. Shares: Waihi 52s Gd to 55s Gd, Junction 28s 9d to 30s. WHEAT SHIPMENTS. (Received 9, 10.50 a.m.) London, January 8. The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,575,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,135,000, Atlantic shipments 222,000, Pacific 55,MOO. Total to Europe 750,000, including Russia 100,000, Danuibian 183,00, Indian 38,000, Australasian 55,000, Argentina nil. NEWTON KING’S STRATFORD WEEKLY REPORT. At the Haymarket on Saturday there was a largo attendance, also a fair yarding of pigs came forward. The market opened up with keen competition although prices cased somewhat towards the end of the sale. I quote:—Slips and weanors 9s Gd to 19s, small stores £1 to £1 Gs Gd, medium do. £1 7s Gd to £1 8s Gd, good do, £1 12s to £1 13s Gd ; milk cans 5s to 14s; sets harness £3 to £5 15s. At the Mart.—Poultry: Cockerills Is to Is Gd, small do Gd to 9d, ducklings Is Bd, cabbges 2s Gd do/., potatoes 3d to Id per lb, set harness 37s Gd; new bicycles £7 10s. Furniture, drapery, crockery and sundries making good prices. Fruit; Some 200 cases of assorted fruit came to hand direct from the growers. Peaches 4s Gd to ss, over ripe 201 b cases 2s to 2s 3d, plums Is Gd to Is Gd 211 b cases, 121 b cases plums 2s 3d to 2s Gd, cucumbers 2s Gd small cases; black currants 9s to 10s per 211 b case, gooseberries 9d to Is per 41b bag.
