There was a crowded house to watch the Gray-Stevonson contest, Gray totalled 869 on Friday afternoon, and Stevenson 698. In the"evening, Stevenson was unlucky, but Gray was brilliantly consistent. Four times he topped the hundred, averaging 57, and Stevenson 24.

Gray won the match, scoring his 18,000, Stevenson getting if,301 . Gray was feeble in the afternoon, but bettor in the evening. Stevenson was unable to put up a superlative effort, though at one time be reduced the lead to 497. Stevenson’s best break was 344, and Gray’s 204. The young Australian received a great ovation at the conclusion. [The match was for £SOO a- side, on level terms, benzoline balls being used.]
