COUNCIL’S CONDITIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION.

COMMITTEE’S REPORT A DOTTED

Tiie following report of 1 lie committee appointed to go m:o the matter of street formation was presented at the meeting (f the Borough Council last night:—

I. Minimum area of sections fronting now streets to lie a quarter of an acre, with a minimum frontage of G 6 feet.

2. That all new streets he laid off so as to he straight thoroughfares, and that blind streets he avoided as far as possible, and on no account will blocks he permitted at the ends of new streets.

IT Streets to he not less than GGft. wide. Footpaths I.2ft wide, footpaths to be kerhed, kerhing to he Gin. wide, made of concrete in parts of G of clean gravel to one of good cement, properly finished on the face, of a depth of not less than J2in., and of sudicient depth to ensure a solid foundation. Streets to he metalled 12 ft. wide and to a depth of Din. with good broken metal broken to a gauge of 2\in., blinded with good gravel (-1 yards to the chain), ami rolled with road roller when roller available in the Borough. Where the fall is such that channelling is considered necessary concrete channelling to he done to the satisfaction of the Council.

In case of a blind street the owner of the property on which such street is to he made shall arrange, if necessary, with adjoining owners for a proper outlet for storm water and drainage through such properties.

7. That all costs and expenses incurred by the Council relative to the granting of its permission to tho laying off of private streets, and in connection with the laying-off or making of the same, and in subsequently declaring such streets to be public streets, be paid by the person or persons applying to the Council for permission to lay off or make such private streets.

8. That accompanying any application for the laying-off of a private street must he a skeleton plan cf subdivision and areas. If subdivision approved a correct tracing of the survey plan showing areas, hearings and distances must ho deposited with the Council.

Re Porter’s proposed street: Your committee recommend the Council not to agree to the laying off’ of this street unless the sections in the subdivision are in accordance with recommendation No. 1.

Cr.. King considered that the committee should he complimented on the manner in which the report had been prepared. The report was adopted.
