An inquest into the death of the little boy Edmund Martin, who was severely burned at the house of his aunt on Thursday night, was held today. The evidence showed that Victor Baker had acted with conspicuous courage in rescuing the child. from a burning building. The coroner will bring his action under the notice of the Humane Society. A verdict of death from exhaustion following burns was returned by the jury, which added a rider to the effect that in view of the evidence as to the tardy arrival of the Mt. Eden Fire Brigade, further investigation should take place. A copy of Hie rider will be sent to the Borough Council for consideration.
