SALE OF WORK.
HOLY TRINITY CHURCH
For some time past the church workers of the parish of Holy Trinity have been busily engaged in promoting a sale of work in aid of the church funds, and this morning the finishing touches were added, and the Parish Hall put in readiness for the large crowd that is expected both this afternoon and evening. The opening ceremony was performed by Mr. J. B. Hino, M.P. In introducing him, the Vicar (the Rev. Butler) said that Mr. Hine was a great church worker at Toko, and he was glad to introduce him to a little church work at Stratford.
Mr. Hine, in declaring the sale of work open, said that it gave him. great pleasure to think that his first) duty as a new member was to taks part in the work of his own church. He congratulated them on having such an energetic body of workers in the district, calculated to gladden the heart of any vicar. He trusted their efforts to decrease the liabilities of the parish would meet with every success. Mr. Hine then went on to say, amidst general laughter, that ho hoped to have the pleasure of being the first purchaser, but reserved the right to go to what stall he chose. He then declared the sale of work open.
Owing to the very inclement weathere there were not many present this morning, save the small army of workers. The ladies have certainly made a very attractive display of produce, flowers, sweets, and fancy work, and with the patronage it deserves, the sale of work should prove a big success.
