THE TERRITORIALS.
A LABOURITE’S THREAT,
(Per Press Association.")
Greymouth, December II
Replying to a question at Dunollie last week, Sir Arthur Guinness said, regarding prosecutions under the Defence Act, lie was not in favour of making “fish of one and fowl of the other,” but lie believed the provisions of the Act must be carried out.
This evidence did not prove satisfactory to Mr Semple, the Federation cf Labour organiser, who declared that if the Government enforced payment of the fines by imprisonment or attachment of wages, he would “paralyse the industries and business of the whole of the Dominion.” Mr Semple said ho could command 15,000 workers, who would see that no wages wore earned.
On Friday night there will be a voluntary parade in the old Masonic Hall for all officers and n.c.o.’s and those new men desirous of promotion. Captain T. K. Lampan, who went to Palmerston North last week to sit for his examination, returned yesterday morning. Captain Cardale will also sit for an exam, soon, probably in May next.
