DOMAIN BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Stratford Domain Board was Bold yesterday afternoon, when there were present :—Messrs G. N. Curtis, P. F. Ralfe, R. McK. Morison, W. P. Kirkwood, T. H. Penn, and the secretary. Accounts to the amount of £22 6s -Id were passed for payment. It was decided that all the sycamore trees in the north side in King Edward Park be cut down. The chairman explained that the sycamores were interfering with the growth of the young spruce trees. They were becoming a nuisance, as they had in New Plymouth. The matter was loft in the hands of the chairman to superintend the carrying out of the work. It was also decided that the broom in the Domain; he cut down to satisfy the noxious weeds inspector. The Crystal Palace Fireworks Co. applied through the secretary for a refund of the £1 charged for the use of Victoria Park to give an exhibition of fireworks. They had been prevented from giving a performance owing to the bad weather and had made a Dig loss. On the motion of Mr T. H. Penn it was decided to grant the request. Several matters were loft to the next meeting-'to decide after inspection had been made, one of these being the matter of the pinis insignis fence of N ictoria Park, facing Fenton Street, where, the chairman stated, the inner belt of trees were likely to ultimately kill the fence.
