A SERIOUS ALLEGATION. Wellington, December 5. Interviewed by an “Evening Post” reporter on the subject of the Rev. Mr Hammond’s telegram His Grace Bishop Redwood said : Mr Hammond’s telegram to me is in direct contradiction to the account of the interview which he had with the editor of the “Tablet,” which account the said editor declares to be scrupulously accurate; and, further, I say that Catholics have a natural and divine right to the unfettered possession of .the necessary matter for the great Catholic Eucharistic sacrifice. Therefore, it would he an insult to their reason and their faith to accept it on the precarious tenure of pie-crust political promises or of a clause in an Act of Parliament which might be and certainly would bo repealed if Prohibition came to prevail in the Dominion.
