PERSIAN PATRIOTISM. Teheran, December 4. A procession of ten thousand, carrying banners inscribed “Death or Independence!” visited the British, American and French legations. Speeches were delivered, appealing to the spirit of justice and liberty. Three prominent reactionaries were assassinated on Saturday. Sipahder’s life was attempted on Sunday. Two thousand Russian troops are thirty miles southward of Resht. Two hundred arrived at Kazvin. Four hundred are near Teheran. The Russians disarmed the Persian militia at Resht, i and occupied the telegraph office. The late Alacddowleh, intermediary between Russia, Britain, and Persia, persuaded Persia to comply with the first ultimatum. The reply to the second asks for a renewal of the negotiations with a view to considering what is reasonable.
