Stevenson addressed an open-air ; meeting bib about three hundred people last night in opposition to compulsory military training. The mooting was hostile 'throughout, and ended in uproar. A band of about two hundred youths singing “Soldiers of the King, 1 ' “Rule Britannia,” and other patriotic airs chased the speaker, who took refuge in a restaurant, and escaped through, tho rear of the promises to the Ranfurly Hotel. The police arrived at this stage, and the crowd dispersed.
