A FAMILY KILLED.
SUPPOSED CASE OF MURDER AND SUICIDE. JEALOUSY SUGGESTED AS THE CAUSE. Melbourne, December 3. Frank Pooling, his wife and three children were found dead with their thioats cut, at Kyabram. It is supposed to be a case of murder and suicide. There are no details. Pooling (or Cooling) was a labburcr. a quiet hard-working man. He was horn in the Kyabram district. Jealousy, quarrelling and law proceedings appear to have unhinged his nund.
Two children awoke and found their father, mother and two brothers, aged eleven and nine, and a six weeks’ old baby dead, with their throats cut, lying on the floor of one of the rooms. ; How the other two escaped is rcma;kable. Blood was splashed on them, and a blood-stained razor was found near Cooling, broken by the force used. Cooling was apparently shaving when the tragedy occurred. QUARREL BETWEEN HUSBAND AND WIFE. AN UNWELCOME VISITOR. (Received 4, 9.55 a.m.) Melbourne, December 4. Jealousy is believed to bo the cause of the Kyabian tragedy. Cooling returned from the’country a week go, and found a man with whom he was unfriendly in the house. A sceno_ ensued, and Police Court proceedings followed. Cooling quarrelled with his wife over the circumstances leading to the Court case. He afterwards became gloomy.
